Happy Birthday

I will let the photos speak for themselves.  The finished project is approximately 5"x7".  I really hope to get it out in the mail tomorrow.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is so near ... we are actually celebrating next weekend with family visiting from out of town.

Here's a quick and easy card that defines the day perfectly, created for a special person.  It's also my entry for three challenges:
I also used a free graphic for the dictionary page from The Old Design Shop.  That's a place I will definitely visit again!  Thanks, sister, for the link!

OOOHHHH ... I have to update my photo.  The first one did not do the card any justice ... that's what I get for trying to photograph in dim light.  Here's the better version that really shows the true colors; I'll leave the original on the blog for comparison purposes.

We give thanks ...

This morning I decided to participate in Cheery Lynn Designs' Give Thanks challenge.  I used the Sweet Williams strip and the Pair of Ferns dies.  UPDATE ALERT!  I had to take a new photo ... the colors in the previous one was so off.  This is true color!

Another birthday!

Of the eight people on my team, three of us have September birthdays and three four have November birthdays.  Instead of making a card, I thought I would try out my new tag die.  Instead of cutting one, though, I first folded the paper and then put the fold slightly inside the cutting area.  I now had two tags, attached at one edge.

I did all the distressing, etc. prior to adhering them together.  See, sister?  It worked!

Did I mention I also bought a new bird on a branch die?  (Both new dies are Tim creations!)  The little birdie has some Distress Stickles brush over him to give him a bit of a shimmer.  Cute!

I finished it off with a ribbon dyed using the same colors as those on the tag.  Oh, my gosh!  I forgot to mention the cute cute cute embossing on the other side of the tag.  Gee, I don't know which to call the front.  So I will let her decide.  Sheesh!  I also forgot to mention the adorable "bread tag" that also comes with the die.  It was perfect for writing my name to let her know who was thinking of her.

Enjoy!

I am so determined ...

I really really really want to learn how to use my Cricut.  There's just something about figuring out which layer is which.  Aargh.  This birthday card is for a co-worker.  I used Cricut Craft Room and Doodlecharms to cut out the birthday hat and set it upon an Action Wobble.  Then I added a little bit of bling to the top of the hat. Cute, huh?

Happy Birthday to Nancy!

I tricked my neighbor.  Now she has the treat!  I asked her for some good Bible verses to put into a mini album for a friend.  Ha ha!  She's the friend!

Thanks again to sister for her advice and lessons!

Waiting

I am #8 in line waiting for the new Michaels to open. Maybe I will score something good!  Check back later for my haul.  Meh.  I got a lot of stuff that I need, but nothing exciting.  Paint.  Glue sticks.  Glue gun.  As I said, nothing exciting.  Sorry.  (Oh, but I did receive a $10 gift card!  Score!)

Girlie girlie cards

I made these two cards over the last two days.  Loving them both!

My apologies for the size of the photos.  I'm having difficulties posting this from my tablet ... when I have a chance, I will fix it.  Until then, enjoy!

Boo!

Did I scare you?  I was playing in my "studio" this morning.  Just letting the creative juices flow. This is what resulted. I'm feelin' purty proud of myself.

Last weekend, I purchased the Sweet Williams die from Cheery Lynn Designs. I used a Tim Holtz stamp for the harlequin design and then used Sparkle and Sprinkle's midnight black embossing powder.  The ribbon was stamped in black archival ink with the word boo and then colored with Concord Purple Distress Ink.  I added Glossy Accents to the flower petals and then sprinkled on black detail glitter.  A black pearl finished off the flower.  Then I added an orange feather next to the black bird trinket.

I just discovered that this card is eligible to enter in the Black and Orange Challenge (#102) at Cheery Lynn Designs.  You can see the challenge here

It's a good thing ...

... that I take pictures of my creations.  When I posted the card for my friend yesterday, I was thinking that it didn't look right.  Of course, it didn't!  That photo was not one of the finished card.  So, without further ado (and with a certainty that it IS a photo of the completed card), here's what he received.  By the way, he loved it.  He is into antique clocks, so the clock-like trinket on the card wasn't lost on him at all!

Last post for the day (maybe)

Two cards I create a few weeks ago.  The first uses a crepe paper flower that I made using Tattered Floral die.  I stamped it with a text stamp and then colored it.  The paper is so cool ... the leaves are embossed with a sort of rubbery material.  Too cool.  This went to my mother-in-law.

The next card went to a friend for his birthday.  I loved using all of my findings to create just the right card.  We're having dinner with him tonight, and I'm looking forward to hearing his opinion of it.

What would YOU do if you knew you couldn't fail?

Last week, I decided to just play.  Nothing to create for anyone.  Just trying techniques, etc.  I used Elegant Edges to cut this tag.  I then tried a new idea to stamp with clear embossing powder and then let it act like a resist.  Added a flower that sister sent to me.  Used leftover ink on the craft mat to die the ribbon.  The lucky recipient was my neighbor who was visiting for pizza night.

21st birthday wishes

This 5x7 canvas is for my dear friend, Alice, to give to her granddaughter.  Alice cried when she saw it.  I'm glad (not glad that she cried LOL) that she liked it.  The photo captured a special moment between Alice and her infant granddaughter.  I removed the background from the photo, changed it to black and white, printed it on shrink plastic and then mounted it on a pair of Tim Holtz' grunge butterfly wings covered with blue glitter.  Enjoy!

Getting Older is a Bit More Palatable ...

... when your dear neighbor/friend brings a birthday cake TO. DIE. FOR.

I'll let the pictures do the talking. (Except to say that the beautiful purple flower and the purple tiles around the cake are all chocolate.  With gold on them.)  I'm one lucky girl, for sure!  First, for the cake and second (and more importantly) for such a good friend.  Thanks Nancy!
